Why Don’t People Speak Up in Toxic Workplaces?
I recently shared a personal story about Workplace Safety vs. Workplace Culture in vet med, hoping to help others feel seen and understood.
My mere attempt to post a blog to help others is immediately dismissed by some as “clickbait,” “illogical,” “lies,” or an attempt to gain followers.
It’s an energy meant to silence me, to dismiss me.
Can we step back, stop the madness of our own insecurities, and ask:
“What are we doing? Why are we treating each other so poorly?”
Here’s the truth:
☀️ Many people stay silent because they fear losing their jobs or reputations in small professional circles.
☀️Trauma, C-PTSD, and survival mode impact a person’s ability to “fight back” in the ways others expect.
☀️ Sharing stories is not about victimhood or follower counts—it’s about letting others know they are not alone in feeling unsafe, unheard, and unseen.
If you find yourself quickly dismissing another’s story, pause and ask:
“Am I listening to understand, or am I projecting my own judgments because their truth makes me uncomfortable?”
✨ Together, we can build safer, healthier work cultures—one honest story at a time.
